Canadians, try Buycott

I downloaded this app to support it... a good idea and the more Canadians that show interest, the sooner they will expand to Canada. Until then, try Buycott to check what products are good / bad

I support this

I hope this becomes a big thing not only with products but with good as well

Useless

If you live in Canada, this app is currently useless.

Great idea but...

If its going to be in the Canadian app store, there should be more Canadian products. Also,it would be great to get notifications if one of the products I scan gets added.

Great design but out of date info

I love the concept and design of this app. Its very easy to find what you want and learn about the safest products. However, many common products are not listed. For some products, much of the information is out of date so the health ratings are inaccurate. Overall, this would be my go-to app before I buy anything, if only the information was correct.

Just What Ive Been Looking For

I love this app!!! As someone with a post-secondary education that includes ethical production and consumption, I am so pleased to find an app that helps me to make better informed decisions in purchasing ethical and transparent products. Not only does this app give you an overall score for products, it breaks the score into 3 sub-scores of Health/Safety, Environment and Society/Community. Since this app is helping you make a purchase, the 3 pillars of sustainability (Environment, Society, Economy) are well-represented. This app is easy to use and eliminates the time-consuming nature of searching for better products. I highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to practice more ethical consumerism but doesnt have the time to research every product s/he uses. I just wish this app had a way to suggest new products for review by scanning the barcode of the new products and including its name, brand and company/manufacturer. Otherwise, excellent job GoodGuide!!!

What the world has been waiting for

A terrific undertaking that brings together data from thousands of sources to help consumers decide which products & companies align with their values. Work yet to be done expanding the catalogue & making the scoring methodology more transparent, but the current depth and breadth is very impressive. I will be sharing with friends & family!

Need Canadian support

Ive kept this ap for years, waiting for them to add Canadian products. it doesnt seem like its going to happen. deleting now.

Super!

Great app. I always use it when I buy personal care product. You really are doing a great work there! Thanks!

Needs update

Needs to update outdated products list and include Rimmel line for makeups

Inaccurate information

One of the first product I came across in this app was Vaseline Petroleum Jelly and it is rated a 10 for health. It is quite clear that it cannot be trusted by how it constitutes "healthy" ratings.

Incomplete, inaccurate data!

I had high hopes for this app, but when I compared the ingredient lists from products listed in the app to those on the product they werent the same. It was missing many of the problem ingredients. I would not trust these ratings. I use the think dirty app instead and it is way better. This app also had a hard time scanning barcodes.

Love it

Love the convenience and purpose of this app, has more products than Skin Deep and is easier to use. Ingredients seem to be accurate to me. Id recommend this app to anyone who wants to improve their health and the health of their family.

What About Animal Testing!

Alot of the good products are tested on animals. Too bad you cant combine with the Cruelty Cutter app.

Not a credible source of information

This app has the right idea toward sustainable products, however, it is absolutely useless for information behind the choices. The ratings that they give products have absolutely no information about why they got that rating other than its among the top 5, 10, 25 or whatever percent of the good guide ratings. I want to know why aveeno has a 8/10 environment scale, do they use less water? Emit less carbon? And whos making these claims? Did aveeno pay you to say that or do you have scientists and environmentalist in the field doing studies? None of this info is available. They also have a very limited selection. Half of the products I use are very sustainable but dont seem to make the cut for the GG app. Dont waste your time on this, just do the research yourself, youll get better and more credible insight.

Excellent

But it crashes frequently and became almost useless :(

Not so good as it could

It didnt find any product. There were from different countries. RedLaser & Ценометр found them itselves or redirected to the searchmachines that found. Im afraid its useless till it wont be fixed.

Limited database

The app is well developed but the product database is quite limited.

Too Outdated

This app was awesome, and should be great, but the product info is so outdated and most of my usual purchases arent even on any of the lists. Please come back to work on this.

Consumer Reports for household and beauty products

Works wonderfully. Im so thankful something like this exists, based on actual scientific research and not some crazy persons blog recommendations. This app is indispensable for anyone who wants to understand the least toxic products to use.
